Courageous Bingo Players in a Police Ball Incident

Local authorities have threatened to arrest and charge a group of senior citizens all women, who are 70 years old and above for courageously standing up to a group of hoodlums that are harassing them.

The plucky old ladies had been subjected to nearly an hour of harrowing experience as they were subjected to intimidation and verbal abuse by a group of 14 to 15 year olds as they tried to play bingo peacefully and quietly inside Belle Isle's United Reform Church.

The youths ignored the appeal of the bingo players to cease kicking their ball against the metal shutters of the church until the group kicked the ball inside the church. The seniors had demanded an apology from the boys and held onto the ball while they called local authorities. But they were in for a shock as the female constable that answered them said that they have to give the ball back because they could be charged with theft.

According to Mrs. Ramskill, one of the bingo players inside said that they were horrified and stunned by the reaction of the police and in disbelief over what they have heard from the police. Maybe the constable thought that she was doing her job but in all honesty, I think that she was not.

You do expect that you would get help when you called the police and you expect them to side with victims, no the perpetrators. In the past months, the players has been subjected to different difficult situations by this young group of hooligans like locking them inside the church, smashing their cars, running across the roof throwing stones and tiles and a whole lot more. Mrs. Ramskill have even tried to appeal to the better nature of one of the youths, asking if he has grandparents, she was answered back with "They are all dead because they are old".

69 year old Joan Houston, a fellow bingo player at Leeds Church said that they have been forced to contact authorities on a number of occasions but felt that it is not doing anything good to the situation. She honestly thinks on what thy have done to deserve such horrible treatment when all they want is to enjoy and play bingo with no disturbance.

They have even written to West Yorkshire Polices's Chief Constable Colin Cramphorn about the incidents only to get an answer from one of the administration team that their complaint has been passed to Chief Superintendent Dodd, who is the commander of the City and the Holbeck Division.

The spokeswoman for the West Yorkshire Police department commented about the problem of the bingo players in Belle Isle's saying that the boys involved in the matter were already reprimanded in front of their parents and were advised about their behaviors. They are aware of the concerns of the bingo players and they are already investigating the incident. The complainant will be updated about their investigation directly.
